Play and Sync Android Apps on Your Windows Desktop

Android is one of the world’s most popular operating system for mobile phones. But unlike iOS, which also supports syncing of apps across other Apple devices, there is no Android OS for a PC. To use your Android Apps on Windows, Bluestack App player is a boon.

It is a software which comes with 10 preloaded Android apps and neatly works on your laptop or PC running Windows OS.

The BlueStacks Apps when installed, are pre-loaded with 10 free apps. It usually shows up on the right hand corner of your desktop by default.Users can install upto 26 more apps and run them, getting a feel of how Android apps behave without actually using Android. The best part is users can synchronize their apps from Android phone to Windows PC with BlueStacks Cloud Connect.

It is a great way to synchronize and use Android Apps on Windows, which was not really possible. If you have a Windows computer and Android phone or tablet, then this software is a must.

The video below explains the features of BlueStacks quite well.

Google Buzz is shutting down; how to export your Buzz posts

Google Buzz is almost at the end and Google is going to close this service completely. But for all those who are currently using it or shared hundreds of posts on it then here’s a Google tool for you where you can download all your Google Buzz posts and content. This service is Google Takeout. Using this service you can export your posts, photos contacts and other Google Buzz and Google+ profile data including posts you have posted on Google Buzz.

To download all your data open the page:

Now you will see a page as shown in the screenshot above, click “CREATE ARCHIVE”. That will create a .zip file for all your data. Click Download to begin downloading.

You have to enter your password once again to begin downloading; this will download all the content in a zip file with separate folders for each one of them. This is just like downloading your Facebook profile’s data. This is a useful tool as Google is shutting down its Google Buzz and I don’t think that even Google+ is going to survive for long.

Customer Spotlight: Hawaiian Isles’ Helpful Emails

As you know, the key to responses to your email marketing offers is a careful balance of helpful, relevant, interesting, entertaining, all-around saintly emails, written with the right audience in mind and tested for optimal performance.

Now, we could do the marketing-blog thing and throw that advice at you, wish you luck and go check our Twitter stream. But that’d leave you frustrated. So here, we’ll show you instead. A screenshot’s worth a thousand buzzwords, right?

One of our customers, Hawaiian Isles Kona Coffee, really strikes the balance between helpful email content and relevant offers. And they’re not a huge intimidating company whose output you could never match. They’re a hardworking small business with an ideal email campaign.

So here I present for your perusal and inspiration:

HI’s welcome email covers it all – sets expectations, requests whitelisting, invites feedback and provides an action to take (emailing questions).

By describing the exotic locales of the coffee’s origin, HI’s not only educates its readers, it plays into the American culture code for shopping – reconnecting with life.

If customers don’t properly store their coffee, it may spoil quickly, giving the product a bad reputation. These tips keep the coffee fresh and delicious – good for the customer, good for the company.

After several informative messages, it’s time for an offer. HI keeps their recommendation simple and clear.

Like the storage tips, these cleaning instructions not only educate the customer, they keep the coffee tasting fresh.

The same applies to the brewing tips – extra value, extra happy customers.

Now that readers know how to care for their coffee, it’s time to offer them another chance to buy some. Framed as a signature series, it’s evident why this offer is special.

Any readers who’ve ordered from the previous day’s broadcast can read up on some fun facts about their coffee while they wait for it to arrive in the mail.

At this point, the follow up series is done, but subscribers still get weekly offers and sale alerts.

They also get exclusive invitations and rewards, such as this offer for double reward points after a purchase.

So how are Hawaiian Isles’ emails so helpful? Well, they start by addressing this question:

“If you’re using my product (or service), what do you need to know to really get the best experience out of using this product or service?”

Then they answer the question that naturally follows, “What do you probably not know that, if you did, would lead you to buy more?”

There are a few things they can tweak to make their campaign even better, though:

The intervals between emails are rather short. Spread out the follow ups, and appreciation for the helpful information will last longer. (Plus, what if I haven’t cleaned my coffee pot yet?)The design of the broadcasts and follow ups should match. It looks like HI started using a new template for their broadcasts and just hasn’t updated their follow up design yet.

Otherwise, HI shows an impressive level of thoughtfulness. Do you know of any other email campaigns that make you sit up and take notice?

New Training Series: Tips and Tactics for Affiliate Marketers

Listening to your customers and partners is a hallmark of successful businesses. It’s also one of our core values here at AWeber.

When we surveyed our affiliate partners recently, one consistent response was the desire for more support and training tools.

We heard you loud and clear.

Among the new initiatives we’re rolling out, we’ve teamed up with our friends at Affiliate Summit for a special free webinar: “Killer List Building Techniques that Work! (Email + Social)”.

Topics we’ll cover in this live, interactive webinar include:

Landing Pages – We’ll drill down into the “before and after” landing pages: the form pages where subscribers first opt into your lists, and the confirmation pages that serve as the jumping off point to your relationship with readers and prospects.

Autoresponders – List building doesn’t end with a new name. A strong first impression should be followed with successive touches that continue adding value and keeping subscribers engaged. Creative autoresponder series are perfect for that.

Social Media – Are you getting a decent amount of tweets and likes, but still need more fans and followers? How are you integrating opt-in email efforts with your social channels? This area is ripe for optimization with tweaks you can make quickly.

We’ll explore a variety of proven tips and tactics, look at real-life examples of what does and doesn’t work, and address your specific questions in our live Q&A session. We’ll also be looking for your input on future training session topics.

So if you’re looking to accelerate your list growth, reserve your spot today for “Killer List Building Techniques that Work! (Email + Social)” and join us on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 1:00 p.m. EDT.

WordPress 3.3 Beta 1

WordPress 3.3 is ready for beta testers.

As always, this is software still in development and we don’t recommend that you run it on a production site — set up a test site just to play with the new version. If you break it (find a bug), please report it, and if you’re a developer, try to help us fix it.

If all goes well, we hope to release WordPress 3.3 by the end of November. The more help we get with testing and fixing bugs, the sooner we will be able to release the final version. If you want to be a beta tester, you should check out the Codex article on how to report bugs.

Here’s some of what’s new:

Remember, if you find something you think is a bug, report it! You can bring it up in the alpha/beta forum, you can email it to the wp-testers list, or if you’ve confirmed that other people are experiencing the same bug, you can report it on the WordPress Core Trac. (We recommend starting in the forum or on the mailing list.)

Theme and plugin authors, if you haven’t been following the 3.3 development cycle, please start now so that you can update your themes and plugins to be compatible with the newest version of WordPress.

And now, haiku.

Features almost done…

Test it now — have fun!

Yes, You Can Put “Free” In Your Subject Line

Thursday, Yahoo! released an email visualization tool. Updated every second, it shows the volume of email being delivered through Yahoo! users across the globe.

Click on the map, and it’ll zoom in to a breakdown of emails in that area (with all emails anonymized). Keep clicking, and it’ll display fascinating facts about Yahoo!’s user base.
You can also choose to either show or hide blocked spam messages.

But the visualizer’s not just fun to look at (though we’re crossing our fingers this is available as a desktop background very soon). If you click on the green “trending keywords” box, you’ll see something very helpful for email marketers:

In blue, you see the most common words in subject lines hitting inboxes by the second (though the data’s delayed by about an hour).

Then, if you click the green “show spam keywords” box, you’ll see a gray representation of subject line words for emails being blocked as spam (though probably not for the subject lines).

Now, we’re not suggesting you start copying and pasting lists of safe words and danger words.

We’re suggesting that, once you get over the awe of this lovely tool, you take note of these two observations:

Every time we take a look, the word “free” is hovering steadily in the “delivered” zone. “Free” subject lines are getting delivered. It’s safe.

So no more typing fr.e.e in your subject lines, okay? For one, your subscribers must think your ring finger has a nervous tic. For another, it looks more suspicious than the real word anyway.

If Yahoo is putting this information out there for anyone (spammers, desperate marketers, sane marketers and the general unconcerned populace) to see, they’re not worried about anyone gaming the system.

This suggests that the words you use in your subject line aren’t necessarily what flags emails as spam, and therefore, they aren’t the most important factor.

So instead of worrying exactly which words are “safe,” focus on which words are engaging and entertaining and make the sale.

Keep your focus on subscriber engagement, get whitelisted and work on building relationships – then watch your own subject lines show up in the Visualizer when you click the “queue” button!

What do you think? Helpful, or just a digital lava lamp?

If you notice anything else about the visualizer that email marketers should know, please share in a comment below!

Today Apple’s iPod turns 10 [Video]

ipod 10 years steve jobs thumb Today Apples iPod turns 10 [Video]When Steve Jobs returned to Apple, it was a company whose computers were over-priced and it was having serious challenges in the computer making business. Apple today is synonymous with the term ‘Post PC Era’ simply because they have moved away from the being computer makers towards making gadgets like iPod, iPhone and iPad tablets.

Apple has made a fantastic turnaround in the last 10 years so much so, that it has even overtaken Microsoft this year.

This turn around started 10 years ago, when Steve Jobs presented the iPod. The MP3 music player, which he perfectly described with the quote “A 1000 songs in your pocket”.

Also included below is a video of the event from 10 years ago; when Jobs introduced the iPod to the world.

It might be worth noting that even Apple fans were sceptical about Apple getting into the gadget industry away from its computer base.
